General admission rules

  • Intermediate (F.A/F.Sc) or equivalent qualification recognised by HEC
  • Minimum 45% marks in intermediate (HEC minimum); program-specific minimums are higher for some programs
  • Students awaiting results can apply on a provisional basis
  • A-Level students with minimum 3 principal subjects and equivalent grades
  • DAE/B.Tech students for relevant programs (HEC approved)
  • Equivalence certificate required for foreign qualifications; IBCC attestation for O/A Level
  • No age limit for admission (as per HEC guidelines)

Entry test

  • Test duration: 2 hours
  • Total marks: 100
  • Passing marks: 50% (program pages may set a different pass mark)
  • No negative marking
  • Bring original CNIC / B-Form and roll number slip
  • Mobile phones are strictly prohibited

Admission procedure

  1. Online registration

    Fill out the online admission form with accurate information, upload the required documents and pay the registration fee.

  2. Entry test

    Appear in the MAIST entry test at the campus in Layyah.

  3. Interview & document verification

    Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview. Bring original documents for verification.

  4. Merit list & fee submission

    Check the merit list on the website and campus notice board. Selected candidates submit the admission fee within the given time.

  5. Orientation & classes

    Attend the orientation programme; regular classes then begin.

How do I apply?

Fill in the online application form, then appear in the entry test and interview. You can also apply in person at the admissions office on Near New Sabzi Mandi, Bypass Road, Layyah.

What are the general eligibility criteria?

Intermediate (F.A / F.Sc / ICS) or equivalent recognised by HEC, minimum 45% marks; program-specific requirements apply. Program-specific minimums are listed below and on each program page.

When is the entry test?

The entry test is held on campus after you apply; the admissions office gives you the date. It is 2 hours, 100 marks, with no negative marking.

Can I apply before my intermediate result?

Yes. Students awaiting results can apply on a provisional basis.

Is MAIST affiliated with recognised universities?

Yes. BS Computer Science, IT, Cyber Security, BBA, English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Zoology are affiliated with Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology (KFUEIT); BS Computer Science, BBA, BS Urdu, BFA and B.Ed are affiliated with the University of Education, Lahore.

Are scholarships available?

Yes — merit-based (up to 50% fee waiver for 80%+ in intermediate), need-based, sports and special-quota scholarships. Fees can also be paid in instalments, with a concession for siblings.
